Year of Surprises….

2010 is shaping up to be a banner year for surprises, from the small (yes, it is still called summer when it is 50 degrees and rainy) to the large (yes, two little sacks on the ultrasound screen really means twins). The latest big reveal that has me a little dumbfounded is that fortunes do come true.

When Joey and I were in Singapore in February of 2007, we had our fortunes told at the Goddess of Mercy temple. The results were confusing – a lot about silkworm production and farming that didn’t seem terribly applicable to two backpackers. We both received, and understood, the line about having a daughter in our future. I, being me, assumed this meant one daughter shared between the two of us. Joey, being Joey, assumed it meant two daughters, still shared but one for him and one for me.

So, was Guanyin right? Do we have one or more daughters in our future? Am I right and we will only have one? Or is Joey right and we will have two?

Looks like Joey wins this round.

In January, two little girls will make our twosome a foursome. We are thrilled. To be fair, we would have been thrilled with any of the typical combinations.

We are still calling them Ani and Po for their placement in the womb, anterior and posterior, but the name search now begins in earnest. I am also quite pleased to report that Bruce, Clark, Peter, and Carnivorous are officially off the list.
