Aurangabad: a Hole

Aurangabad, an overnight train journey from Mumbai, is the jumping off point for the Ajanta Caves, the Ellora Caves, and Daulatabad Fort. Because of this, it sees a lot of tourists and has a lot of people on hand to take advantage of the tourists. We don't bargain well so, as you can imagine, we were two of those tourists who got taken. Frankly, it is a hole. We were quite happy to spend only one night in the town even though the fantastic sites around it deserve a little more time.

While waiting for our evening train back to Mumbai, we ate dinner at our guesthouse (not great but not bad). The glasses that came with our rather terrible bottle of beer did put a nice spin on two days of touring.
Although Aurangabad was a hole, we had to agree....

Three hours later, awaiting our very late train and getting constantly asked for money, we were forced to revisit this sentiment. Our happy ending took a little longer to arrive.
