Comments, Please (From Erica)

Dear Readers of Joey and Erin's blog:
This is the protective younger sister speaking. I'm leaving for the States tomorrow morning (sigh) and I need y'all to help me help Erin and Joey for the rest of their trip (with India coming up, especially...I've heard India, while amazing, is one of the most difficult places to travel.) Hearing (reading) a familiar voice, when on the other side of the planet, is just as important for your general well being as eating, sleeping, and taking your malaria meds. Furthermore, FEAR NOT the comment box! Before I came to visit I didn't comment much because I thought, how do you respond to "Erin rode an elephant today" with "Today I worked on my taxes and reorganized my shoe tree"? Now I know that that's exactly what they want to hear. The simpler, the more mundane, the more normal, the better! "Makenna and Annsley had pancakes for breakfast", "Brian and Allison are signed up for swimming lessons", "The new Batman needed more jokes" and "Word up, yo" are all more than acceptable posts. Sound manageable? Good. After all, Erin and Joey are two of the coolest people we know doing one of the coolest things ever and anything we can do to help them out, we should do it.
I now return you to regularly scheduled programming.
Erica

Thanks Erica for assisting in getting notes from home. We really do appreciate any and all comments, and we welcome them.

We will miss Erica, as we have gotten used to our temporary travel companion. Even though, she should know that Spiderman needs more jokes and not Batman - we won't hold it against her.

Hi Joey and Erin! Dena here and I just got back from Las Vegas. Although, it isn't as exciting as the places you get to travel, the people and things you see in Vegas definitely make you believe you are in a different world. Miss you both! And I love ya, too!

ok, i am listening to Erica...This morning I got up @ 2 AM because I could not sleep because I ate too much boiled shrimp and my tummy was aching. (I asked for this for my mothers day meal) anyway, had a piece of pecan pie while watching Desperate Housewives and I think the sweet pecan pie reacted with the shrimp boil to cause a gastric phenomenon. Seeking a cure, I had a half soda, and felt a little better and drank

(Cont'd since I did not know I had a limit!) felt a little better and went back to sleep around 4 AM. Slept till 6:50 AM and got up to make coffee and prepare Mason's daily bacon (i am not kidding)every morning...he lives for it...we are having his cholesterol checked next week. Once he began eating, I started checking my email. He is off to school now, and next Sunday we all leave for Kauai for 9 days. Cannot wait. Love you guys..Mare

so how is that for commentary? Y'all must be getting homesick...how does a juicy burger sound, with all the fixins? When Uncle Keith and I lived in Okinawa, (3 months in 1974) I craved hamburgers and real milk...The local stores had goats milk which wasn't bad, but I wanted thick cold, pasturized milk and a big Burger King or Mc Donalds burger...so, hope your cravings are fulfilled (within reason)ha Mare Mare

Thanks for the comment Mare Mare,

We actually found a Burger King today, and the Whopper was heaven. Actually, any dairy product we can find in Asia hits the spot. Also, I'd cut off my right arm for breakfast which has something besides noodles and/or rice.

I hope your tummy feels better, but I have to be honest and say that I'm not feeling too bad for you since it was caused by boiled shrimp! Hopefully, you had some Tony Chachere's.

Hey Guys,

Today I took the minutes at our management board (normal person off sick). Instructed a staff member in how to formulate a site map of our new website. Spoke to my boss about our new 'Waste' programme. Sent a case study off to the printers to be DTPed. Went home, ate dinner, put the kids to bed, and put out the rubbish. I then met up with my dad for Latihan, came home, watched tv for a bit, and I'm just about to go to bed :o).

I get the impression you guys are getting a tad homesick. This is to be expected as you've already been away a long time. I'd say stick with it but at the end of the day its up to you what you want to do - you'll know when its time to go home.

Good luck in India - hope you're still planning on making it to Europe.

Best Regards,

Hamid

Joey & Erin,
For once my day may have been more exciting than yours. Although no travel outside of Ballard was needed, Lavinia and I found out we're having a baby boy! We're so excited and can't wait for Aunt Erin and Uncle JoeyJoJo to see little Sheppito.

We'll be having a small ceremony for Jeffrita's name later today. (grin)
Love ya,
Jeff & Lavi

Congratulations, Jeff and Lavi. Mare Mare, Joey printed up your post and we read it out loud three times over beers and swimming in Bangkok. Perfect.
Love,
Erica
