Seattle to Portland - on a bicycle

This summer, I decided to ride in the annual STP bicycle classic. Riding from Seattle to Portland is a rite of passage for Northwest bicyclists, and I hadn't earned my stripe yet. So...

Friends from AT&T and I rode away from the University of Washington in Seattle just after 7 on Saturday morning. Our group broke up pretty early, but I stayed with Glenn & Cynthia until Yelm, Washington (about 64 miles). I was hooking up with some GLG folks for the ride on Sunday, so I spent the night in Vader, Washington (mile 109). The long day was topped with a hearty meal at the Vader Assembly of God. Our hosts provided home-made pies and desserts, and I went back for many samplings. Sunday went quickly - we left around 7 and arrived in Portland right before noon. 208 miles over two days, and many many calories later...
